I woke us this morning feeling very well rested, relaxed and ready to tackle whatever the world had to throw at me. For some reason, more than anything I was feeling creative.  With the latest copy of “Knights at Home” , a cup of tea and some toast I opened on a page about product design.  This was a sign! With my creative hat on and an article about some guy who had help design a new type artificial ice skate that can be used off the ice I started to write down ideas and scribble drawings like a mad man.

After about half an hour of stuffing my face with toast and thrashing out the out my note pad I started to see that most of my ideas were more science fiction and would more than likely requires million of pound of investment. For example, one of my products designs was similar to the space shuttle and I don’t think Nasa would listen to what I had to say about it.

During my moment of madness is became apparent that product design  is not as easy at it looks ,so I took to the Internet to take a look.  Product design is a vast subject and has its fingers in almost every pie that conceives a new idea.

I dont think this is something you can learn, it is something you harness as a natural talent and build upon in during your education. Sure you can go to college and university and study product design, but if you don’t have a natural flare for putting together ideas that work the to be honest I do not think this particular career would be best choice.

Designers have a bit if a hand up with the advancement and introduction of more powerful computers and more complex software that enables designers to test theories and products in a virtual enviroment before blowing loads of cash on building and testing live products.

To sumeries what a product designers does, is to bring products from conception to market.
